About the role

Design and develop backend microservices for the PLG platform using Kotlin and Spring Boot.

English version Seniority: Medior/Senior Location: Prague Contract: Employment Start date: As soon as possible 🩷 About us At PLG Group, we connect people with culture — from concerts, theatre, and festivals to exhibitions and other live events across the Czech Republic and Slovakia. PLG Czech Republic consists of three strong local brands with a long tradition: Ticketportal has been on the scene since 2002, GoOut since 2011, and Ticketstream since 2001. Our long-term goal is to provide partners and customers with simple access to every corner of cultural and sports life. On our platforms, everyone can find an event that is just right for them and purchase tickets immediately. Thanks to the backing of an international company and the combined know-how of three connected local teams, we have access to top-tier technological capabilities. At the same time, our philosophy remains simple: we operate openly, creatively, and close to the people who create culture every day. 💚 Your role As a Backend Developer , you will join our engineering team building the backbone of the PLG platform. You will work on a modern microservice architecture, contribute to event-driven systems, and help shape the technical direction of our backend services. This is a hands-on role with real ownership — you will collaborate closely with frontend developers, product managers, and architects to deliver reliable, scalable solutions that power live event ticketing across multiple markets. What you’ll do: Design and develop backend microservices: using Kotlin Spring Boot, following clean code and architectural best practices. Build and maintain event-driven systems: leveraging message brokers such as Kafka or Google Pub/Sub, applying patterns like outbox where appropriate. Participate in architectural decisions: contributing to the design of scalable, resilient distributed services across the PLG platform. Collaborate cross-functionally: working with product, frontend, and QA teams to define specifications and ensure features meet quality standards. Conduct code reviews: sharing knowledge and raising the overall quality bar within the team. Identify and address technical debt: proactively improving system reliability, performance, and maintainability. What we’re looking for: Strong backend fundamentals: 3+ years of experience building production-grade backend services in Kotlin and/or Java with Spring Boot. Microservice architecture: practical experience designing and operating distributed systems; comfortable with service decomposition, API design, and inter-service communication. Event-driven architecture: solid understanding of event sourcing, CQRS, outbox pattern, and experience working with Kafka, Google Pub/Sub, or equivalent. Cloud and infrastructure basics: working knowledge of Google Cloud Platform and containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes); CI/CD experience (GitHub Actions or similar). Database experience: comfortable with relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred); practical experience with ORMs and aware of the trade-offs. Collaborative mindset: team player who communicates clearly, welcomes feedback, and takes initiative when something needs fixing. Language: fluent English (B2/C1); Czech or Slovak is a bonus. 🩶 Benefits & Why You’ll Love Working Here Hybrid work after the probation period – usually 3 days in the office, up to 2 days home office (we trust teams to agree on what works) All benefits below from day one for HPP employees 25 days of holiday MultiSport card – you pay 330 CZK, we cover the rest Edenred Flexi benefits – 10,560 CZK/year for culture, leisure, health or education Meal vouchers – 124 CZK per working day, paid monthly with your salary FreshPoint fridge with yummy ready-to-eat meals for the better price Fully stocked kitchen – fruit, snacks, great coffee, toasties and plenty of alternative milks Modern office in the centre of Prague – right by the main train station, co-working spaces included, and yes… the rooftop with breathtaking sunset views of Prague Castle Coursera Plus for learning and your growth Possibility of joining English classes Company MacBook Team life – monthly breakfasts with leaders, summer BBQs, offsites, sports, Xmas parties… and room for your ideas (seriously!)
