Associate Software Engineer

What to Expect Our team builds internal software that helps Tesla plan, build, and operate construction projects at scale. We own a full-stack product used daily by project managers, engineers, and factory stakeholders. As an Associate Software Engineer you will work as a full-stack engineer. You will ship features across the stack — frontend and backend — and work closely with product, UX, and other engineers to turn ambiguous business needs into clear, usable solutions. Early on you will contribute with strong guidance from senior engineers; over time you will own larger slices of features end to end, including API design, data model, UI, maintainability, performance, and usability. Day to day you can expect to: Pair with product and end users to clarify requirements and edge cases Design and implement features across the stack (e.g. React/TypeScript on the client, Node/TypeScript services and APIs on the server) Improve existing flows based on user feedback, not only build greenfield work Raise the bar on engineering practice (code quality, testing, design consistency) as the product grows This role is a strong fit if you want hands-on full-stack craft in a high-ownership environment, care about real users, and want to grow quickly with mentorship rather than sit on a narrow ticket queue. What You'll Do Collaborate with product managers and end users to analyze functional and non-functional business requirements Closely collaborate with UX specialists, backend engineers and product managers to design and implement features that are easy to use, efficient and scalable Continuously engage with users to gather feedback on existing solutions, and advocate for good usability across all the product Maintain and improve existing functionality, apply design changes to the architecture as it fits Continuously improve processes, standards and practices to assure highest product quality What You'll Bring Demonstrated expertise in software development fundamentals such as software design, algorithms, data structures, modularity, and code maintainability Bachelor's degree or higher in an engineering field or equivalent experience and evidence of exceptional ability Extensive hands-on experience in software development utilizing React, TypeScript, and CSS High level of competency in React data-fetching libraries and common front-end development tools like Babel, Webpack, and NPM
