About the role
Provide expert guidance on ethical AI adoption and conduct Responsible AI Tabletop Exercises for the DoD.
Salary: $83000 - 121000 per year Requirements: We require an active Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility. We require a bachelors degree from an accredited university in Applied Ethics, Artificial Intelligence Ethics, Data Ethics, or a closely related field. We require at least 8 years of relevant IT experience, including 5 years focused on artificial intelligence technology, applications, or policy. We require at least 2 years of multidisciplinary expertise spanning cybersecurity, human factors, ethics, and policy as applied to AI systems. We require at least 2 years of experience designing and facilitating Responsible AI Tabletop Exercises. We require at least 2 years of experience performing RAI gap analyses for the DoD and defining Courses of Action and projects to address RAI capability and process needs. Preferred: a masters degree in Applied Ethics, Artificial Intelligence Ethics, Data Ethics, or a closely related discipline. Preferred: experience shaping federal or defense AI ethics policy, especially within the Department of Defense. Preferred: familiarity with DoD Responsible AI Strategy and Implementation Pathway, the NIST AI Risk Management Framework, and OECD AI Principles. Preferred: experience working with senior ethics councils or AI working groups. Responsibilities: We provide expert guidance on the ethical adoption and use of AI platforms, including advising which platforms are most appropriate and how they should be used. We design, facilitate, and evaluate Responsible AI Tabletop Exercises to assess readiness, surface ethical risks, and support decision-making. We conduct Responsible AI gap analyses to identify ethical shortcomings or capability limitations in current DoD AI systems and develop recommendations to close them. We collaborate with cybersecurity, human factors, legal, and policy stakeholders to ensure AI systems meet cross-functional ethical standards. We support the creation of Responsible AI principles, implementation roadmaps, policy frameworks, and governance structures. We monitor developments in AI ethics, algorithmic accountability, and federal RAI guidance and advise senior leadership on their impact. We help integrate ethical risk management, algorithmic transparency, and bias mitigation into system development and deployment. We contribute to cross-agency ethics efforts, including DoD AI policy development, working groups, and governance councils.
