AI Product Engineer 3 positions | Wellington | Full-time What if software could actually do the work, accurately and consistently, so our customers can focus on adding tremendous value to landlords and tenants across the country?! That’s what we’re building at Keyhook. We’re looking for three strong software engineers to help us build the next generation of property management software - where AI agents and automation don’t just answer questions, but actually get things done . Keyhook is a fast-growing New Zealand software company building an all-in-one property management platform used by property managers, landlords and self-managing property owners. Property management is complicated. There are thousands of decisions, follow-ups, checks, communications and processes happening every day. We think a lot of that work shouldn’t need a person. That’s where you come in. And we want to set expectations early... Attitude is everything at Keyhook - you can be fresh to the sector, have years under your belt, or be a long-term legend in this space - sure you'll demonstrate your skills, though our priority is that you 'get' our culture of excellence and you contribute strongly to it. Personally. Everyday. In a big way! The opportunity You’ll build AI-powered systems that can: Understand what needs to happen. Gather the information needed. Make decisions. Take action. Check their own work. Escalate when a person needs to be involved. Keep going until the job is done. And we mean real production software ; not demos, chatbots or AI experiments that never leave a laptop. You might build an agent that progresses a maintenance issue from start to finish. Or one that identifies a problem in a property portfolio before the property manager knows about it. Or an automated testing system that finds bugs before our customers do. Or systems that help our own engineering team build, test, and release software faster. The goal is simple: Make Keyhook increasingly capable of doing the work itself. What you'll be doing You’ll work across AI, software engineering, automation, and product. You’ll build things like: AI agents that use tools and take real-world actions. Automated workflows that replace repetitive human processes. Systems that test, monitor and improve themselves. Automated security and performance testing. Developer tools that make our engineering team dramatically more effective. Agents that investigate problems and propose or implement solutions. Customer-facing automation across maintenance, arrears, applications, inspections and tenancies. The infrastructure and evaluation systems that make all of this reliable. You’ll be working on problems where there isn't an established playbook . That’s part of the appeal. Who we're looking for You don’t need to have “AI Product Engineer” on your CV. You do need to be a great software engineer who is excited about what AI now makes possible. You’ll likely: Be a strong full-stack or back-end engineer. Have built with modern LLMs and APIs. Have experimented with agents, tool use, structured outputs or automated workflows. Care about writing software that actually works in production. Think about reliability, security, testing and performance. Enjoy taking a messy problem and turning it into a working system. Prototype quickly and know the difference between a prototype and production software. Be curious, pragmatic and highly autonomous. Want to build rather than just talk about what could be built. We're much more interested in what you can build than the list of technologies on your CV. Why Keyhook? Because you’ll get to build this stuff for real. You won’t be a small cog in a massive AI programme. You’ll be close to the product, the engineering team, and the customer. You’ll see something that doesn't work, figure it out, build it, put it in front of users and see what happens. And when it works, we’ll use it. We’re trying to fundamentally change how software is built, operated, and used. That means you’ll have a genuine opportunity to shape how an entire software company operates, not just build another feature. The challenge We’re looking for people who see a process involving four people, three systems and nine manual steps and thinks: “I can automate that” If that sounds like you, let's talk. Application Details Talent Link Limited is proud to partner with Keyhook on these roles. When submitting your application, please ensure you add 1. an (up to) 2-minute video introducing who you are and how you work; and 2. a video/ screen recording of (up to) 2-minutes demonstrating what you can do as an engineer. These can be embedded in your CV, or provided as links attached to your submission on SEEK. Applications will remain open until all three positions are filled.
